Jacques-Pierre Michelot worked in Paris, Rue Saint-Honoré, at the sign "A la Mélodie", from 1760 to 1800.
An advertising was published in 1791: " Michelot, renommé pour ses guitares en bateau dont les avantages
sont de réfléchir le son au dehors d une manière plus sensible..."
( "Michelot, famous for the guitars of boat shape of which the superiority
is to reverberate the sound more perceptibly...") (C. Pierre: "Les Facteurs..." Paris 1893, p. 124.)

This guitar, stamped on the table, is one of the very rare "boat shaped" now indexed.
The body is made of eleven parallel maple ribs. (contrary to the lute)
Soundboard of spruce edged with a blackwood filet.
Original bridge decorated with ebony "moustache".
